These are pics from my August 2009 Pacific NW trip - visiting friends in SF, Portland/Amboy, and Seattle. Then I worked my way back down the NW coast, camping in Olympic, Crater Lake and Redwood National Parks. I had never seen the OR or WA coastlines, and only been as far north as Mendocino in CA. Whenever possible I tried to pick crookedest most backroad-looking highways on the map to get from place to place. Not surprisingly, as in trips past, some of my favorite pictures came from these mostly forgotten highways.
This trip has inspired me to create a calendar - Backroads of the West, which I am working on now. I figure I still need about 6 more good pics so I'll be out there again this summer. As always, taking the backroads!
