In March, 2005 I took a trip to the Southern CA deserts. I managed to hit Death Valley, Mohave National Preserve (for about an hour before sunset), Anza-Borrego State Park, The Salton Sea and The Algodones Dunes. My friends Kim and April joined me for the last three destinations. 2004/2005 was one of the wettest years on record for Southern California, where the rainfall-year is measured from July-June. So the desert wildflowers were in spectacular bloom. Death Valley was described as a "100-year bloom". Also, while I was there a good portion of Death Valley was a shallow lake.

These are the images from my new digital camera (Sony DSC-W1), bought just for this trip. No more disposables for me! At least until I break/lose the new camera. If anyone wants a full-size/resolution image, please request it and I will email it to you. Clink the links below for the full picture set.

Note: The "April Scampering" picture below was featured in a PARADE magazine online gallery, for which I did receive $25. So I can officially call myself a professional photgrapher. Woo hoo!
